Before I begin, here’s a fact about me that is a must know;
- I have extremely pale skin!
So when buying foundation at the drug store I come into a lot of complications and usually end up looking like an oompah lumpah. Which isn’t great. I always go for the porcelain colour, however even that colour can look a little dark on my face! Yikes! I’m in some serious need of a spray tan.
I also find it very difficult to hide my very patchy skin. Although I do not break out often and have never really suffered with spots or acne, my skin does like to go wild with the colour red. I always have red blotches on my face and I try my best to cover it up!
The biggest issue I have found with drug store products is that I can’t seem to find one that covers the blotches. And if it does cover them, it isn’t for long enough! So after going through many and I mean many different foundations, I decided to try MAC. As a student, living in my own place, I was a little nervous about spending the extra money incase I was greeted with the same issues I had with drug store products. However, I was extremely pleased with the results!
I read online that the foundation bottle had to be shook before use (kind of like a yogurt drink…) to warm it up. After doing this I found that the foundation applied smoothly with no streaks. Also I read that the foundation needs two coats. The first coat that I applied was very thin. I didn’t get much out of the bottle as I didn’t want to waste any. Using the same amount the second time I had complete coverage. Although I applied twice, I used less foundation than I use with the drug store products. I would say this was probably due to the fact that the application was a lot smoother and covered much better.
Obviously because I’m so pale I chose the palest colour. This colour matched my skin very well, which was one of my biggest fears when ordering online! I also purchased the foundation powder, as I have always used powder to top off my foundation. I found that the powder was brilliant and maybe even better than the foundation. As it’s a foundation powder it can or should be applied alone. However I have not tried that as I have never had any luck with powder alone! I think in the future I will give it a go to see however I know that it requires a lot of powder and I don’t want to waste any!!! Haha!
This product I would definitely recommend! It was fantastic and after using it for a month now I definitely say it’s a great foundation.
It also smells great too… Kind of like wet paint. At least I think so anyway!
